Argentine workers opose Omnibus Law

Buenos Aires, Jun 27 (Prensa Latina) Argentine workers will stage a new day of protests against the so-called Omnibus Law, which will be analyzed again in the Chamber of Deputies, after being approved by the Senate with modifications, despite the rejection of thousands of people who rallied against it last June 12th.

Organizations such as the State Workers Association (ATE) and the Central Workers of Argentina-Autonomous (CTA-A) confirmed their participation in mobilizations and other actions in the capital and the provinces.

“It is the transfer of public power to the president so that he can continue governing by decree and reinforcing the repressive aspects of social control, labor flexibility, and the delivery of national patrimony and common goods, destroying the industry and favoring large transnational companies,” said the general secretary of the CTA-A, Hugo Godoy.

Godoy also expressed, “We reject that project and demand the immediate repeal of the decree of necessity and urgency 70/23 to prevent the Constitution from continuing to be reformed in this way. Our central office has decided to continue in a state of struggle and mobilization. For this reason, we will march to Congress and articulate all actions in unity with the various sectors of the popular field.”

Regarding the issue, ATE specified that the measure of force will take place to oppose a “law that proposes a profound dismantling of the State and the threat of more than 50 thousand layoffs in the national public administration by the end of the month.”

The general secretary of the organization, Rodolfo Aguiar, accused the Executive of leaving citizens without jobs and condemning them to their civil death. “The labor reform incorporated in the law is regressive and will not contribute to creating more employment or improving current economic and social indicators. We refuse to be laboratory rats and have them experiment with harmful and delusional theories that have already failed worldwide,” he said.
