Andre Michel, spokesperson for the radical opposition Democratic and Popular Sector, urged Conille to ignore such requests.
“Let’s not grant amnesty to criminal gangs that have kidnapped, raped, murdered, and impoverished thousands of families,” Michel urged the government.
Michel’s request comes as a background to the recent statements by gang coalition leader Jimmy Cherizier, alias Barbecue, who called for negotiations as a first step to restore peace in a country living in chaos.
Barbecue said the best way for Haiti’s interim Prime Minister Gary Conille to bring peace back to the nation is through dialogue.
