World celebrates International Day against Electromagnetic Pollution

Washington, Jun 24 (Prensa Latina) Humanity is celebrating the International Day against Electromagnetic Pollution on Monday to raise awareness about its risks and consequences for human health.

This is a kind of pollution with an increasing presence due to the proliferation of WiFi antennas inside buildings, including schools, hospitals, and public centers, as well as buses and homes, among other places.

Although having access to the Internet from anywhere is significant, these wireless networks have health implications.

Electromagnetic pollution, or electropollution, is a continuous exposure to electromagnetic fields generated by electronic devices.

There is much controversy about the effects of this pollution on human beings, but some electromagnetic fields at very high intensities, like microwaves, have proven to have harmful effects.

Scientific studies warn of possible diseases caused by electromagnetic pollution, such as cancer, genetic damage, reproductive system problems, learning deficiencies and memory disorders.
