Decisive week in Panama for a change of Government

Panama City, Jun 24 (Prensa Latina) A week before the inauguration ceremony of the new Government in Panama, analysts, entrepreneurs, and social organizations are warning of the enormous problems inherited from the former administration.

For example, the Chamber of Commerce, Industry, and Agriculture pointed out in a recent press release that the new authorities, who will take office on July 1, must study the mistakes and assess the legacy of inertia due to the inaction of the last five years.

The largest business association in this country considered the water crisis of the Canal, the deterioration of the economy, the social security and pension program, education, and the poor management of solid waste (garbage) are among the mismanaged areas.

They also mentioned the critical situation of public finances, with high debt, having lost the investment grade with one of the risk rating agencies (Fitch Ratings), with a worrying perspective.

The associations urged the new Executive, headed by President-elect Jose Raul Mulino for the 2024-2029 term, to draw conclusions from past mistakes and have the courage to make the necessary changes to guarantee a prosperous and equitable future for all Panamanians.
