According to operation officers quoted by Al-Watan newspaper, the elite troops of the 25th division, supported by Syrian popular and allied militias, succeeded after two weeks of fighting and operations in achieving their anti-terrorist objectives in the desert towns of Sukhna, Palmyra and Rasafeh, located in the provinces of Homs, Raqqa and Deir Ezzor.
We have eliminated dozens of radicals and destroyed their hideouts, fortifications, and the motorcycles they used in their sporadic attacks on military points in the desert, the sources said.
In turn, the joint Syrian and Russian aviation launched more than 60 raids against Daesh targets in the Al-Amour mountain range, where the radicals took advantage of the rocky nature of the place to protect themselves.
According to military personnel on the ground, the current campaign launched by the Army is the largest ever aimed at combing the desert to pursue and eradicate Daesh cells and blocking supply routes and corridors coming from the Tanef area where one of the largest U.S. bases in the east of the country is located.
