Foreign Ministry Spokesman Lin Jian told a press conference that Japan indiscriminately imposed illegal unilateral sanctions based on Russia-related ordinances, and China expresses strong dissatisfaction with and firm opposition to this.

China conducts normal economic and trade cooperation with Russia on the basis of equality and mutual benefit. This is a legitimate right and cannot be disturbed by outside interference, the spokesman noted.

Lin said Japan ignored China’s solemn position and insisted on following certain countries and imposing illegal unilateral sanctions indiscriminately.

China will take some necessary measures to resolutely safeguard its legitimate rights, the official warned.
