Alis Varela, chief specialist of the Forecasting Center at the Institute of Meteorology (INSMET), told Granma newspaper that at 18:00 hours, local time, on Wednesday, the system was located about 240 kilometers east of Tampico, Mexico.
Alberto maintained maximum sustained winds of 65 kilometers per hour, with a minimum pressure of 995 hectopascals, and moved west-southwest, with a trajectory speed of 15 kilometers per hour.
The tropical storm-force winds extended up to 665 kilometers north of the center.
