The operation is part of an investigation that is being conducted by the foundation established by the family of German art collector Emil Bührle (1890-1956).
After several years of suspicion, the Kunsthaus Gallery decided to remove the paintings and plans to do the same with another artworks from the controversial family series, which has been displayed in the museum since 2021.
The Emil Bührle Art Collection consists of 203 works that were on loan to the museum from the foundation named after the art collector.
