The Public Health Minister Victor Atallah explained the country has no vaccine available because the disease seemed to have ‘disappeared’ and the influx to the vaccination centres was almost nil.
The national epidemiological bulletin on Wednesday indicated that in the last seven days 379 infections have been reported (less than the previous one), there are 429 active cases and the weekly positivity rate is 32.90%.
Atallah said that a shipment of the injectable should arrive on Wednesday to prevent ‘this peak’ in children, and that later the vaccination centres will be informed.
He pointed out there are no patients in ICUs and also announced that about 2,500 beds have been made available for treating minors.
The minister insisted on the use of face masks to prevent the spread of the virus and assured that pharmacies are being supplied in order to avoid shortages of medicines.
