Ding stressed that the measure is a typical example of protectionism and does not favor the EU’s green transformation, while undermining global cooperation in the fight against climate change.
According to China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Vice Premier of the State Council met in Belgium with European Commission Executive Vice President Maros Sefcowicz to jointly hold the fifth China-EU High-Level Dialogue on Environment and Climate.
At the meeting, Ding emphasized that electric vehicles are iconic products in the green and low-carbon energy transformation.
We hope the EU will improve the consistency of its cooperation policies with China in the fields of environment, climate, economy and trade; and avoid delaying the process of green transformation due to economic and trade frictions, he said.
The senior Chinese official also called for preventing the establishment of barriers that interfere with normal economic and trade cooperation.
