Russian Navy expects to receive 12 battle vessels this year

Moscow, Jun 19 (Prensa Latina) The Russian Navy expects to receive 12 ships and submarines this year, reported the commander in chief of the Navy, Admiral Alexandr Moiseev, as highlighted by the Sputnik news agency.

The report details that Moiseev, who attended the launching of the Provorny corvette, the second ship project 20385, specified that the Russian Navy will receive four submarines, two of them nuclear-powered, small missile launch vessels and patrol vessels.

The head of the Navy recalled that the Provornyy corvette will join the Gremyashchiy corvette, which entered service a few months ago.

The Provornyy corvette is equipped with guided missiles and represents a modernized variant of the basic project, equipped with improved anti-aircraft and anti-ship missile armament.

Both Gremyashchiy and Provornyy vessels are designed to detect and destroy enemy submarines, ships, land marine troops, and solve other range of tasks.

Provornyy has a displacement of 2,500 tons, and a range of 4,000 nautical miles. It is equipped with Kalibr-NK missiles, Redut anti-aircraft missiles, and the Paket-NK anti-submarine system, in addition to carrying a Ka-27 ASW helicopter.
