At a meeting in New Delhi, delegations from both countries presided over by Sullivan and his Indian counterpart, Ajit Doval, noted progress towards deepening and expanding strategic cooperation in sectors related to space science, semiconductors, advanced telecommunications, artificial and quantum intelligence, biotechnology, critical minerals, among others.
According to an official statement, the two functionaries also recognized a potential yet to be explored and exploited with deeper technological cooperation between the two countries in these sectors. They also discussed facilitating mutual collaboration addressing outstanding trade and technology barriers, and industrial cooperation.
The determination of both parties to support greater collaboration between governments, industry, and academia in key areas was reflected in a joint statement from the meeting, with scientific advisors and Indian authorities from the spheres of electronics and information technology, renewable energy, biotechnology, mining, space science, telecommunications and foreign affairs.
On the part of the US industry, representatives from Thayer Mahan, General Atomics, Jeh Aerospace, Holtec, Cummins, Alsym Energy and Axiom Space attended. India had delegates from 3rdiTech, BHEL, Bharat Forge, Bharti Airtel, Bhukhanvala Industries, Centum Electronics, L&T, Tata Advanced Systems, Tata Power, and Tejas Network.
As part of his visit to India, Jake Sullivan spoke with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar on a wide range of bilateral, regional, and global issues.
