The Ministry specified that some 40 ships and boats will participate in the exercises in the Pacific Ocean, the Sea of Japan and the Sea of Okhotsk.
Twenty naval aircraft and helicopters will take part in the drills, which will be led by the commander of the Pacific Fleet, Admiral Victor Liina, including Tu-142M3, Il-38, and Il-38N long-range anti-submarine aircraft, Ka-29 and Ka-27 helicopters.
Marine units and Bal and Bastion coastal missile systems will also participate in the exercises.
The Ministry of Defense explained that this year’s exercises take on a bilateral format for the first time, as they are being carried out between the Primorsky flotilla of heterogeneous forces of the Pacific Fleet and the joint command of the Troops and Forces of Northeastern Russia.
In several stages, the seamen will practice anti-submarine operations, organize the defense of groups of ships during the voyage on the high seas, launch joint missile attacks against enemy naval groups, and carry out training to repel air- and sea-borne drone attacks, the Ministry added.
