In the meeting, the Indian head of government confirmed to the U.S. official his commitment to strengthen the comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership between the two nations.
Sullivan previously met with Indian Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar and discussed a wide range of bilateral, regional and global issues, according to a post by the Indian foreign minister himself on X.
Jaishankar also expressed confidence in the progress of the India-U.S. strategic partnership during the new term of the National Democratic Alliance under Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Sources close to the Foreign Ministry revealed that Sullivan, who travelled to India after participating in the so-called Ukraine Peace Summit held in Switzerland without Russia’s presence, for the second meeting of the Critical and Emerging Technologies initiative.
The U.S. national security adviser, accompanied by Deputy Secretary of State Kurt Campbell and other senior officials, is also expected to meet with his Indian counterpart, Ajit Doval.
Among issues, they will reportedly discuss Israel’s war against the Palestinians, which Washington is supporting militarily and financially.
The two officials will later deliver a joint statement highlighting the progress made and the significance of the mechanism on Critical and Emerging Technologies for the two countries, according to media reports.
