On the 65th anniversary of the Latin American News Agency Prensa Latina, Marrero congratulated , and recognized its workers “as active defenders of the Cuban Revolution in January 1959.”

Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez, in turn, noted Prensa Latina’s attachment to truth and the defense of the just causes of the people of the world in a “timely and complete manner, regardless of difficult circumstances,” Rodríguez emphasized on that same social network.

The member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party (PCC) and Secretary of Organization, Roberto Morales, spoke in the same sense, calling the news agency an emblematic institution of the Revolution.

Morales also highlighted the coincidence of the founding act of the news agency, with that of the National Theater of Cuba, whose group of workers he also praised.

Previously, the president of the National People’s Power Assembly of Cuba (parliament), Esteban Lazo, congratulated Prensa Latina for reaching six and a half decades of life.

Lazo acknowledged the fidelity of its professionals to the legacy of the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, and Argentine-Cuban guerrilla fighter Ernesto Guevara, who were its main promoters.

In this context, the news agency (based in Havana) fights battles against disinformation, amid media campaigns by communication monopolies, intelligence agencies and governments interested in silencing it, Prensa Latina President Luis Enrique González said on Friday.
