In the context of the visit of the general secretary of the Cuban Workers’ Union (CTC), Ulises Guilarte de Nacimiento, to the organization’s headquarters, one of the main ones of its kind on French soil, the hosts expressed their rejection to the siege applied by Washington and the inclusion of the island on the unilateral US list of countries sponsoring terrorism.
In this regard, they reiterated their willingness to support the Cuban people in their resistance, support translated in recent years into the sending to the Antillean nation of several containers with food, items for protection at work, bicycles and medicines.
The brand new general secretary of the Federation of Railway Workers of the CGT, Laurent Brun, and union leaders from unions such as commerce, mining and services received Guilarte de Nacimiento, who was accompanied by the Cuban ambassador to France, Otto Vaillant.
The visitors thanked the long-standing solidarity and welcome and highlighted the union ties between Cuba and France.
The leader of the CTC and member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of Cuba shared with the directors of the CGT aspects of the reality of the Caribbean island, in particular the challenges in their daily life due to the consequences of the US blockade and its extraterritorial reach.
For his part, Ambassador Vaillant highlighted the fraternal meeting and its results in the common objective of strengthening ties.
