After the wreckage of the crashed military plane carrying the vice president was found in a mountainous area in North Malawi on Tuesday, the president declared 21 days of mourning, so the national flag is raised at half-mast.
Authorities have not yet said what caused the plane to crash. It left the capital’s airport for the Mzuzu terminal in northern Mzuzu.
After the accident, in which three of the dead were crew members, and the other six were passengers, organizations such as the African Union, governments, and organizations of several countries expressed their condolences and grief to the Executive and the Malawi people over the death of Chilima and his companions.
