Switzerland plans to hold a conference on the war in Ukraine, on June 15th and 16th in Burgenstock.
“We hope that the leaders of all countries, regardless of which integration associations they belong to, will realize the falseness of this plan with the Burgenstock meeting, which will try to present Russia with an unacceptable ultimatum,” expressed Galuzin, in a press brief at the SPIEF.
According to the diplomat, the Swiss conference is “a hateful attempt to cover up the absolutely and unacceptable formula of the Ukrainian president, Vladimir Zelensky, with externally favorable topics.”
The Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs previously stated that more than 160 delegations have been invited, including member countries of the Group of Seven (G7), the Group of 20 (G20), and the BRICS but the Russian Federation is not among the guests, according to the Swiss authorities.
Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that Moscow will not ask to participate in the conference if it is not wanted there.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov indicated that holding this event is a “road to nowhere” as Russia does not see the West’s desire to conduct negotiations fairly.
Russia has also repeatedly stressed that Moscow has never refused a peaceful resolution of the conflict with Kiev.
