Cuba mourns death of journalist and art critic Pedro de la Hoz

Havana, Jun 5 (Prensa Latina) After announcing the death in this capital of Cuban writer and critic on cultural issues Pedro de la Hoz, José Martí National Journalism Award winner, media, authorities and intellectuals mourned his death on Wednesday.

The Cuban Ministry of Culture (MINCULT) published in a tweet the repercussion of De la Hoz’s death. “Sad news for Cuban culture. Our condolences go to family and friends.”

Empresa de Grabaciones y Ediciones Musicales de Cuba (EGREM) wrote on its X profile, “We have just received the news about the death of our dear friend Pedro de la Hoz, doyen of Cuban journalism.”

Culture Minister Alpidio Alonso also underscored the intellectual’s career.

“The death of the beloved journalist and writer Pedro de la Hoz, one of our great intellectuals, hurts a lot. We will greatly miss his analytical rigor, his critical courage, the acuity and clarity of his decolonizing thought,” wrote Alonso, adding “We will not forget you, brother.”
