“We are in favor of dialogue based on the consideration of Russia’s interests and for this we must eliminate the root causes of the conflict, as well as recognize modern geopolitical and territorial realities,” the diplomat stressed in an interview, on Wednesday, for the TASS news agency. “Our position on a global, sustainable, and fair solution to the crisis has not changed, therefore the West must stop sending weapons to the Ukrainian Armed Forces, and Kiev must consider dialogue,” Galuzin added.

The diplomat further added that the endless supplies of Western weapons to Ukraine only prolong the conflict and cause an increase in civilian casualties.

According to Galuzin, Moscow sees the increasing risks of weapons falling into the hands of terrorists and criminal groups.

“Unfortunately, there are still many in Europe and the United States willing to blindly sacrifice the interests of their countries and people in the name of the goal of inflicting strategic defeat on Russia, pushing them to the brink,” Galuzin noted.

The official also recalled that Russia is always committed to diplomacy and, unlike the West, has never refused to negotiate.

The Deputy Foreign Minister recalled that Moscow sent proposals on security guarantees to Washington and NATO in December 2021, but they were rejected. The same thing happened in April 2022 when the agreements reached the end of the Russian-Ukrainian negotiations in Istanbul, which would have prevented the deaths of hundreds of thousands of people and stopped the conflict. However, it did not happen.

“It is well known that Kiev abandoned the agreements under pressure from former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, who demanded that the war continue and that Russia be defeated on the battlefield,” the diplomat concluded.
