The restoration of environmental services will take decades and cannot even begin until a ceasefire, the agency stated in X, after warning that the conflict “took an unbearable toll on children. (…) Their lives have been completely uprooted, as families face constant fear and forced displacement amid terrible conditions. Without access to education and with repeated trauma, the only hope is the end of the war,” UNRWA stressed.
UNRWA denounced that in the last month more than a million Palestinians, most of them refugees, fled the city of Rafah, bordering Egypt, after the Israeli Army launched a ground offensive.
Benjamin Netanyahu’s government justified the operation with the argument of destroying the last stronghold of Hamas, which supposedly had four battalions deployed there.
However, the United Nations, non-governmental organizations, and numerous countries criticized the attack on that area, which is overpopulated, and warned of the serious humanitarian consequences.
