The Chang’e-6 ascent module, launched last May 3, entered a preset orbit around the Moon, the China National Space Administration (CNSA) reported.

The mission has withstood the test of high temperatures on the far side of the Moon, CNSA emphasized, noting that the multiple payloads installed on the lunar lander performed optimally and carried out the planned scientific exploration.

This allowed the special probe to complete its rapid work of sampling and storing evidence. While that was ongoing, the researchers conducted a simulated operation in a laboratory on Earth that provided important support for decision-making.

According to the source, two sampling methods were developed: the use of a drill for collecting subsurface samples and the surface material with a robotic arm.

After completion of the sampling, the body noted, that a Chinese national flag carried by the lunar lander was deployed for the first time on the hidden side of the Moon.
