The electoral institution is assessing to send a team of experts that, unlike electoral observation missions, does not require a specific mandate from the UNSC or UNGA.
The Electoral POE does not issue statements assessing the general conduct of the processes or their results, Stephane Dujarric, Spokesperson for the United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres, explained in a recent statement.
As part of their work, they report to the secretary-general and communicate with the electoral authorities and other interested parties, Dujarric explained.
So far, the Venezuelan electoral power has confirmed that the Community of Caribbean States (CSS), the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), the Inter-American Union of Electoral Bodies (UNIORE), and the UN Panel of Experts have been invited to observe the elections.
