The training took place in the early hours of Thursday, and was organized and directed by the general secretary of the Labor Party and chairman of the State Affairs Committee, Kim Jong Un, the state news agency ACNC reported.
According to an official note, Kim Jong Un pointed out that the exercise was intended to “make our enemies clearly know the results their attempts would have” if they tried to violate the sovereignty and territorial integrity of North Korea.
The barrage of rockets was conducted through the integrated fire command system, which is part of the integral management system of the State’s nuclear weapons. It was carried out by forces from the combined artillery unit of the western border of the People’s Army of Korea.
The mission was accomplished as the projectiles hit an islet defined as a target 365 kilometers away.
“Our nuclear-armed forces must be fully ready to quickly and accurately carry out, at any time and unexpected circumstances, their important mission of stopping the war and taking control of it,” Kim said.
The DPRK leader has led several military training and tests of defensive means this year, amid the growing risks of a military confrontation with the United States and its allies in the region.
