Paris-2024 Olympic flame travels through Normandy

Paris, May 30 (Prensa Latina) The flame symbolizing the Paris-2024 Olympic Games completed the 20th stage of a 12,000-kilometer journey in the historic French region of Normandy, where it stopped in more than 400 cities and towns.

Since it arrived in France from Greece on May 8, the flame has visited the nation’s northern region for the first time. The tour started early on Thursday on Omaha Beach, the site of the Allied landings during World War II on June 6, 1944.

More than 100 sports stars, athletes, prominent figures of society, and citizens are carrying the torch with the flame that will light the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games in Paris on July 26.

The Olympic torch visited Lisieux, Cabourg, Houlgate, and the beautiful Honfleur. Its journey will end with the lighting of the cauldron in Caen, the favorite city of William the Conqueror.
