A balance of the epidemiological week (from May 19 to 25) showed that 61.7% of the cases detected correspond to this type A influenza; 21.4% to rhinovirus; 5.2% to adenovirus; 4.4% to parainfluenza and the rest to other agents.
Christian García, MINSAL´s Epidemiology Director, called on people belonging to risk groups to get vaccinated because this reduces the risk of contracting a serious illness.
At present, immunization against influenza reaches 67.8% of the target population, while coverage with nirsevimab (against the syncytial virus) reached 97.3% out of every 100 newborns and 76.3% out of infants under six months of age.
