Symbol of this was the exchange of poetry books that took place at the Hotel Nacional de Cuba between the president of the important Havana event, Alex Pausides, and his Serbian counterpart Miljan Guberinć, president of the Smederevo Poetry Festival.

At the meeting, these personalities discussed the possibility of establishing a continuous exchange of poets from the two nations, as well as the signing of a collaboration agreement between the two festivals.

The meeting was attended by the outstanding Cuban poet Nancy Morejon, National Literature Prize (2001); the Sudanese bard Tarek Eltayeb, the Hungarian author Sandor Halmosi, the official of the Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba (UNEAC), Daysi Salas, and the head of Europe of the Ministry of Culture of Cuba, Geober Guibert Pardo.

Until June 1, the Havana International Poetry Festival invites the enjoyment of the literary genre with the presence of some 82 international poets from countries in the Americas, Europe and Africa.

This year’s edition is dedicated to African poetry and to the 90th anniversary of the birth of the recently deceased Cuban ethnologist, researcher and poet Natalia Bolivar.
