High temperatures suffocate Indian capital

New Delhi, May 29 (Prensa Latina) At least 50 students at a school in Bihar suffered fainting today by the extreme heat wave conditions that suffocates India with temperatures between 40 and 45 degrees Celsius.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) reported temperatures above 49 degrees Celsius in Delhi the day before, which it considered a record for the current summer season, and similar conditions are being felt this Wednesday.

According to the national press, Delhi authorities also warned of the risk of water shortages as high temperatures rise.

State Water Minister Atishi Marlena called for collective responsibility to stop water waste.

According to the official, measures were also taken such as reducing the twice-daily supply to once in many areas.

The DMI warned about the impact of the heat on health, especially for infants, as well as the elderly and chronically ill.

Meanwhile, the state of West Bengal and the northeastern state of Mizoram were hit by gales and torrential rains from Cyclone Remal, which hit India and Bangladesh on Sunday and caused loss of life and extensive property damage.
