CARICOM FMs examine foreign policy challenges

Roseau, May 23 (Prensa Latina) The foreign ministers of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) are meeting in Dominica on Thursday to address critical foreign policy issues amid an increasingly challenging and changing international environment.

The ministers are discussing these issues in the context of the 27th meeting of the CARICOM Council for Foreign and Community Relations (COFCOR), whose sessions are being held in this capital until Friday.

It aims to seek consensus and greater coordination among Caribbean countries in defining positions in the face of the consequences of global instability, threats to respect for international law, and the multilateral system.

CARICOM Secretary-General Carla Barnet, the Foreign Ministers of Dominica and Jamaica, and other regional colleagues expect to speak at the opening session of the meeting.

During the two-day event, Jamaica will hand over the rotating presidency of COFCOR to Dominica and present a report on its performance over the last year.

In addition to the Caribbean foreign ministers, a delegation from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Qatar is participating as a guest in the meeting.
