In a statement released by the Cuban Association of the United Nations, the RIDH affirmed that the US blockade and other related coercive or interfering measures harm the performance of the economy and hinder the full enjoyment of the economic, social and cultural rights of the people.
The organization stressed that with the recent removal of Cuba from the list of countries that do not fully cooperate with US anti-terrorist measures, the United States acknowledged that such inclusion has no substance, but contradictorily maintains Cuba as a sponsor of terrorism.
The text referred that it is an arbitrary action that has serious consequences for the performance of Cuba’s international relations in the diplomatic, commercial, financial, cultural, academic and other areas.
Those are unlawful and unilateral measures used by Washington to press harshly against Cuba, harm its internal socio-economic dynamics and undermine its international performance, it added.
The entity denounced that Cuba’s inclusion on this list is a coercive operation complementary to the economic, commercial and financial US blockade for 60 years, with the aim of boosting degrees of dissatisfaction that lead to changes from a humanist and redistributive society towards a geopolitical alignment for its own benefit.
The Network of Intellectuals and Artists in Defense of Humanity is a movement of thought and action against all forms of domination and exclusion which, since its creation in 2003, has brought together intellectuals, artists and social movements from all over the world.
