Slovakian PM Fico is aware and communicative after attack

Ljubljana, May 21 (Prensa Latina) Prime Minister Robert Fico, who is still in hospital for gunshot wounds following an assassination attempt, remains conscious and communicative, doctors at the hospital where the politician is being treated said on Tuesday.

Doctors informed on Monday that Fico was recovering while Slovakia’s President Peter Pellegrini visited him at the medical center and had a brief conversation, media reported in the capital.

The assassination attempt on Robert Fico took place on May 15 after a government meeting.

The politician was injured in the chest and stomach, after which he was flown to hospital by helicopter.

Writer Juraj Cintula, 71, shot at the prime minister.

Interior Minister Matus Sutaj-Estok, in turn, indicated that police officers are checking that the perpetrator did not act alone.
