Venezuelan FM urges U.S. to remove Cuba from infamous SST list

Caracas, May 17 (Prensa Latina) Venezuelan Foreign Minister Yván Gil on Friday asked the United States to immediately remove Cuba from the infamous states-sponsor-of-terrorism (SST) list.

This demand was made by the vast majority of the international community, Yván Gil posted on X.

In this regard, Gil expressed his strong solidarity with the Cuban government and people, “who have not only been victims of international terrorism, but are also being under attack through criminal measures and an unjust and illegal economic blockade”.

The Bolivarian foreign minister responded to a message from his Cuban counterpart, Bruno Rodriguez, in which he expressed that “it is not enough to recognize that Cuba fully cooperates with U.S. anti-terrorist efforts”.

Rodriguez pointed out that the U.S. government “must remove our country from the SST list, which is only an excuse to impose unilateral coercive measures on the Cuban people”.

Bruno Rodríguez also expressed in a statement on May 15 that correcting such an injustice “is high and reiterated, not only by the Cuban people, but also by a great number of governments, especially in Latin America and the Caribbean”.

He stressed that the call also comes from political, social and religious organizations within the United States itself and from several politicians too.

The clear and absolute truth is that Cuba does not sponsor terrorism, but has been victim of it, including State terrorism, as anyone interested in the subject can confirm, Rodríguez insisted.
