Bongo was deposed in April last year by a group of military officers led by General Brice Oligui Nguema, head of the presidential guard, who installed a military junta named the Committee of Transition and Restoration of Institutions.
The announcement of the protest, in which Jalill and Bilal, sons of Bongo, also participated was released by the lawyers of the former president after delivering the complaint the day before to the Paris Judicial Court.
The complaint is the second filed by Bongo’s family after the one in September last year by the wife of the deposed president, which was dismissed weeks later.
The representatives’ text alleges that the former president was tortured on several occasions, illegally arrested, and “subjected to barbaric acts” and comes to court just before the scheduled start of an official visit to Paris by General Oligui Nguema.
