The event had a lot of previous promotion. According to the Euskadi-Cuba solidarity association, it was a “Yell of denunciation of the economic, financial, and commercial blockade imposed on Cuba by the U.S. government”.
The Kulturarteko Plaza Feminista of Hernani, a Basque town in the province of Gipuzkoa, was full of public concern about Cuba’s current situation.
The Cuban emigration groups Sierra Maestra-Euskadi and Desembarco del Granma, with the support of the Hernani City Council and Hernaniko Kooperazio Taldea, joined the initiative.
The issue of the blockade was approached from different points of view. During the debates, the “visible consequences in the form of shortages of food, medicines, and fuel, as well as a strong wave of migration, the main victims of which are Cuban women” were highlighted.
