The scientific body told the TASS news agency that space weather monitoring data show that the degree of disturbance of the Earth’s magnetic field has now risen to level G4, “very strong” on a scale of five indicators, where G5 is “extremely strong” and G1 is “weak”.
The G4 level implies that the Earth could experience severe disruptions to radio communications, hours of disruption to satellite and radio frequency navigation, and severe communications interference. In addition, polar auroras may be recorded even in the tropics.
The previous G4-level magnetic storm was recorded by scientists on March 24.
