Angola calls for U.S. investment in Africa´s infrastructure

Luanda, May 7 (Prensa Latina) Angola’s President João Lourenço called on Tuesday for U.S. investment in infrastructure in Africa, as a fundamental and crucial step in the continent's economic and social development process.

On speaking at the 16th United States-Africa Business Summit, which is taking place in Dallas, the Angolan president highlighted the existing business opportunities with benefits for both sides, according to the Angolan Presidency.

In his capacity as first vice president of the Assembly of Heads of State and Government of the African Union, Lourenço stressed that African countries require investment in the construction of roads and railways, energy generation and transmission lines, as well as telecommunications infrastructure.

All of it will allow development plans to move forward, not only at the national level, but at the continental level, because Africa ‘can play a crucial role in overcoming both the energy crisis and the food crisis that the world is facing,’ he noted.

Angolan president expressed his willingness to see private US investment in the exploration and processing, preferably locally, of critical minerals abundant in African lands for the production of batteries for electric cars, solar panels, semiconductors and ships.
