“(…) we propose that, through the General Secretariat of ALBA, the possibility be studied, within the context of the revitalization of the Great Social Missions of ALBA-TCP, (…) to form an International Brigade to Support the Palestinian People”, Arce said.
Arce considered that the International Brigade to Support the Palestinian People should be made up of personnel specialized in disaster response and health professionals, and proposed extending the solidarity to education, construction, food production, science and technology. He also suggested offering undergraduate and graduate student scholarships and inviting the State of Palestine to join as a full member of ALBA-TCP.
The dignitary also described as genocide the murder of more than 30 thousand people by Israeli troops in the Gaza Strip.
The Bolivian President considered that the humanitarian crisis in Gaza reveals the profound deterioration of the international order and the unacceptable instrumentalization of the institutions, and criticized that on April 18th, the efforts to “achieve lasting peace in Gaza, and in the Middle East in general, were once again crushed by the stubbornness” of the United States in the United Nations, using its veto power and preventing the “resolution for the recognition of Palestine as a full Member State of the UN from being approved, which is a fundamental step towards peace and stability in the Middle East.”
Arce urged the international community to demand that the Security Council fulfill the role for which it was founded and, in the medium term, demand its democratization.
“The Palestinian people have the right to self-determination and the exercise of their sovereignty,” Arce emphasized, and said that “the recognition of Palestine as a full member of the UN is a crucial step towards peace and stability in the Middle East.”
