The Cine Argentino Unido (CAU) organized the rally.
In a message posted on Instagram, the CAU denounced that the Executive “in addition to destroying public education and health, has decided that culture is its enemy, and is taking care of dismantling the cultural industries.”
We cannot allow the government to destroy what we have worked so hard to build,” the text adds.
In the last few weeks, filmmakers and citizens participated in several demonstrations to condemn the measures taken against the development of national cinema, including reduction of personnel and funds for movie releases, suspension of payments, withdrawal of support for festivals, defunding the audiovisual market, and training schools.
On March 14, a protest outside the Gaumont Cinema was repressed by the police.
