The Grenadian premier was received on Saturday by Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel, whom he thanked for his welcome and for his country’s ongoing support for training human resources and the economic activity.
The Cuban leader expressed to Mitchell his satisfaction for his visit to Cuba which reflects the excellent state of bilateral relations between the two nations.
Díaz-Canel recognized Mitchell’s leadership, his tireless work for the sister nation´s economic development and the interest in continuing strethening relations with Cuba.
During his stay in Havana, Mitchell held official talks with his Cuban counterpart, Manuel Marrero, and toured different facilities in Havana’s historic center.
He also signed with his Cuban counterpart several agreements related to the environment, education, health, agriculture and fishing, among others.
The Grenadian president acknowledged that despite the impact of the economic US blockade imposed on Cuba, his spirit of solidarity remains unchanged.
Mitchell thanked Cuban authorities for the warm welcome and considered as positive the progress of agreements reached more than a year ago in Saint George.
