This was announced at a press conference held at the Corferias venue in this capital, also the venue for the event that will be held between April 17 and May 2, and which is especially dedicated to the department of Huila, in the south of the country.
It is also expected that more than 2,300 activities will be carried out in various pavilions and stands during the 16 days that the event will last this time under the motto “Read Nature.”
The Brazilian ambassador to Colombia, Paulo Estivallet de Mesquita, assured that for his country it is an immense honor to receive for the third time the dedication of the fair, which he described as the most important cultural event in Colombia, and for its ability to bring peoples and cultures.
He stated that more than 60 writers and artists will attend from Brazil and participate in talks and other scheduled activities with the aim of publicizing the richness of its literature and the rest of its cultural expressions.
On the other hand, he highlighted the relevance of the event taking environmental care as a priority thematic axis, since issues such as climate change and the loss of biodiversity become fundamental problems of today.
He also meant at this point that both Colombia and Brazil assume a great role in this aspect because while the former will host the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (COP16), the latter will host the United Nations Conference on Change. Climate Change 2025, also called COP30.
Among other activities, the South American giant proposes an academic event held together with Colombian experts called Ciclo Afro, extensive cultural presentations with music and dance, and a Brazilian film festival about the Amazon at the Cinematheque of the Colombian capital.
More than half a million visitors are expected to attend Filbo 2024 and will be able to access the spaces distributed in the 53 thousand square meters that the event will occupy.
As announced at the press conference, this edition will also have tribute spaces for the centenary of the novel La Vorágine by José Eustasio Rivera, and to pay tribute to the tenth anniversary of the death of Nobel Prize winner Gabriel García Márquez.
