Díaz-Canel congratulates Cuba’s Forest Ranger Corps

Havana, Apr 10 (Prensa Latina) President Miguel Díaz-Canel congratulated Cuban's Forest Ranger Corps on its 65th anniversary on Wednesday, and praised its work in defending the country’s natural heritage.

On his X profile, the head of State pointed out the Corps resulted from the Rebel Army and inherited Cuba’s mambi traditions.

The Cuban forest rangers’ mission is to guarantee the surveillance and protection of the nation’s natural resources, within the framework of their competence and according to the policies established by the ministries of Science, Technology and Environment, and Agriculture.

They also coordinate the National Forest Fire Protection System, preserving the geographical environment in the interest of Defense, Security and Internal Order.

The Forest Ranger Corps was established on April 10, 1959, with the approval of Law 239, known as the “Forest Repopulation Plan by the Rebel Army,” in order to plant trees throughout Cuba, at the same time as the Agrarian Reform, according to a report from the Cuban News Agency (CAN).
