Vietnam and Brazil ratify their willingness to strengthen ties

Hanoi, Apr 10 (Prensa Latina) The foreign ministers of Vietnam and Brazil, Bui Thanh Son and Mauro Vieira, respectively, ratified their willingness to continue strengthening their traditional ties of friendship and collaboration.

“We want to carry on working to intensify and develop our relations in general terms, and in particular in the economic and commercial sphere,” Vieira stressed when being received by his Vietnamese counterpart.

Vieira stressed that Vietnam is a very important partner for Brazil, and urged his counterpart to continue cooperating with Brazil in promoting reforms within the United Nations, as well as in other international organizations. He also recalled that President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva stated that he would exercise the presidency of G20 based on three fundamental pillars: the fight against hunger, poverty, and inequality; sustainable development, and the reform of global governance, values that Vietnam also shares.

Vieira also referred to the organization and celebration of the 30th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP30) in 2025, which will be held in the city of Belém, in the state of Pará, which he called a great challenge for Brazil.

This will be the first time that the Amazon, which is an essential biome to combat climate change, will host an event of this magnitude, Vieira emphasized, and requested Vietnam’s support to carry it out successfully.

Thanh Son, in turn, agreed with his counterpart that both countries share common visions regarding peace, sustainable development, and cooperation, and expressed his conviction that the visit of his Brazilian counterpart will be completely successful and will contribute to reinforcing bilateral ties.

Vieira’s visit to Vietnam is part of the context of the commemoration of 35 years of the establishment of diplomatic relations and 17 years of the comprehensive partnership between both nations.
