“Since Saturday at 18:30 (Baku time), units of the Armenian Armed Forces shelled the positions of the Azerbaijani Army 16 times,” reads the report released on Sunday by the Azertag news agency.
According to the Ministry of Defense of Azerbaijan, the military “took appropriate response measures” in all directions
Before that, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan stated that the signing of the peace treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan had been stalled because the parties could not reach an agreement on two important points of the document; to wit: the mutual recognition of territorial integrity and the openness of communications.
The minister expressed his hope that in the near future Yerevan and Baku will be able to reach a greater understanding on these issues, since, when Armenia refers to the Alma-Ata Declaration and proposes including a point in this regard in the draft peace agreement, it faces opposition from Azerbaijan.
