According to the general secretary of ATE, Rodolfo Aguiar, a demonstration will take place around the Ministry of Economy, in the capital, at 1:00 p.m., local time, as part of the planned actions.
“Milei unleashed an unusual attack on our labor rights. The strategy of resisting and defending ourselves against layoffs is not enough, but we must be able to debate what is happening in Argentina behind the massive layoffs is the State that we will have in the coming years,” Aguiar said.
ATE reported on its website that the strike aims to demand the immediate reinstatement of the dismissed workers, the halt of measures of this type, the regularization of all contractual ties, the transfer to permanent employment for all employees, and an increase salary that allows them to face high inflation.
ATE also demands the end of adjustment policies and the privatization of public companies, the continuity of the Sustainability Guarantee Fund and fair retirements, the cancellation of the anti-protest protocol and acts of intimidation, as well as the repeal of the decree 70/23 (“of necessity and urgency”) that eliminates or reforms more than 300 laws.
After carrying out simultaneous entries to organizations and ministries on Wednesday, the organization’s affiliates participated in a federal plenary session in which they agreed to deepen the plan to fight against the measures of the Government of Javier Milei.
The participants urged the country’s labor confederations to call for another general strike like the one on January 24th.
