Aimed at drawing up work plans and establishing cooperation guidelines, representatives of 23 delegations are discussing issues related to instruments, governance, and agendas about science and technology.

They also discussed other issues concerning the socio-economic situation of Latin America, the opportunities for sustainable development, and the scientific and technical view of the challenges faced by each country, from the possibilities offered by strategic investments.

Some of its commissions also discussed possible ways of articulation between the private and public sectors and stakeholders in the territories and other topics identified as highly relevant to the region.

During the opening session on Thursday, President Gustavo Petro stated that science and technology could contribute to developing traditionally marginalized peoples, including the indigenous movements and the Afro-descendant community, and at the same time be beneficial for youth, and even for small and medium-sized enterprises.
