“Two Tu-95MS strategic missile-carrying aircraft of the long-range aviation carried out a scheduled flight in the airspace over the neutral waters of the Sea of Japan. The duration of the flight was about 10 hours,” the military department reported Tuesday on its official website.
The note explains that the bombers were escorted by Su-30SM fighter crews of the Aerospace Forces.
Lieutenant General Sergey Kobylash, commander of long-range aviation, noted that the flight was carried out in strict compliance with the international rules of airspace use.
“Pilots of the Russian long-range aviation regularly conduct flights over neutral waters of the Arctic, the North Atlantic, the Black and Baltic seas, and the Pacific Ocean,” he stressed.
