On the one hand, the Fest of Cuban Cinema campaign started a week ago with a film celebration by founders, organizations, and institutions to celebrate the 65th anniversary of the Cuban Institute of Cinematographic Art and Industry (ICAIC, in Spanish).
To the other end -and between the screenings of new and classic films- a whirl in the sector after announcing the call for the 45th edition of the International Festival of New Latin American Cinema, a space for filmmakers to submit their films until August to compete in December. And now, a new event that lovers of Russian film will be grateful for, which will take place in this capital from April 3 to 7, organized by the audiovisual company Roskino, with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation and the Cuban Film Fund.
Among the films to be screened in Havana are “Cheburashka” (2023) by Dmitri Diachenko, “World Champion” (2021) by Alexei Sidorov, “By Will of the Pike” by Alexandr Voitinski, “Challenge” (2023) by Klim Shipenko, “Air” (2024) by Alexei German; “Bullfinch” by Boris Klebnikov, and “I Take a Step” by Olga Akatiyeva.
A bilateral cooperation agreement between the Russian State Film Fund and ICAIC will be signed during the festival.
