Serbia and Cuba condemn hegemonies and strengthen ties of all kinds

Belgrade, Mar 27 (Prensa Latina) Diplomatic sources said that Serbia and Cuba confirmed their condemnation of hegemonic practices in the world and the need to strengthen ties in all spheres, during a visit here by Cuban Hero Fernando Gonzalez on Wednesday.

The vice president of Serbia’s National Assembly, Sandra Božić, received Cuban Lawmaker Fernando González Llort, who is visited Serbia from March 21 to 26, and Cuban Ambassador Leyde Ernesto Rodríguez Hernández.

Božić thanked Gonzalez Llort for participating in the commemoration of the 25th anniversary of the beginning of the Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO)’s bombings.

“It seems to me that even at these difficult times we are on the same side of history,” Božić stated, in refeence to the difficult geopolitical situation around the world.

The Cuban hero, in turn, stated that 1999 was the moment when the disrespect for international law and peacekeeping institutions began, which continues to this day.

Serbia and Cuba, although small and surrounded by a very complex geopolitical context, are resisting to preserve their national identity, stressed González Llort, who is also the president of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP).

For Belgrade and Havana, it is important to establish and strengthen trade, as well as exchanges in the academic field and cooperation in agriculture, the deputy noted.

Božić added that Serbia knows very well how sanctions and economic prohibitions affect the country’s development and noted that Cuba will always receive understanding and support from Serbia.

He noted that there is scope for cooperation in the fields of agriculture and culture, and highlighted the possibility of cooperation with BIO4 Campus (Biotechnology), a multidisciplinary project that will cover biomedicine, bioinformatics, biotechnology and biodiversity.
