During the Association’s 2023 balance assembly on Tuesday, its president, Brigadier General Arnaldo Tamayo, released the statement expressing repudiation and condemnation of “those who seek to violate the calm and peaceful life of the brotherly people.”
The text, which received full support from participants, also sends heartfelt condolences to the Russia-Cuba Friendship Society (SARC) and to the relatives of the victims, according to the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP).
It was reported at the meeting that the celebration of the 60th anniversary of the SARC, which gives continuity to the Soviet-Cuban Friendship Association, founded in 1964 in Moscow by cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin and Commander Ernesto Che Guevara, will be significant this year.
In a digital message to the meeting, the president of the Association, Deputy Finance Minister Alexei Lavrov, assured that the commemoration of the anniversary is an incentive to increase the solidarity work promoted by both friendship institutions.
