The Ministry of Health negotiated the early delivery of the vaccines, which were scheduled to be distributed from March 20 for the Northeast, Center-West, Southeast and South regions.
Previously, in 2023, the Federal Government changed the campaign strategy for the North region and immunized the population between November and December, due to the climatic particularities of the region.
The inoculation prevents viruses that usually begin to circulate in May, June and July, the Secretary of Health and Environment Surveillance, Ethel Maciel, said.
“But since last year, we are observing an anticipation of respiratory virus circulation in general,” she said.
So, she stressed, “This year we are going to anticipate the campaign to protect the inhabitants, mainly the elderly, pregnant women, health professionals, education professionals and all those who are eligible so that we can be with the population protected before the winter”.
